LET THE HEAT DROP!
YEAH, WE TOOK TAKIS TO THE SUPER BOWL.
The Big Game’s a big deal in the snack world.
Unfortunately for a brand like Takis, Frito Lay practically owns the field—so we had to find another way to get into the game. First off, Takis fans could care less about the actual game, so we had to pique their interest in other ways. To do that, we dropped a video spot that was a bit of a tease…
After a quick text, our fans got the message:
We were inviting them to the most intense Super Bowl Party Ever: SHAQ’S FUNHOUSE
And who better to deliver the invite than SHAQ DIESEL himself… The Big Aristotle invited our fans to join him for an intense livestream event from his very own Super Bowl Party. Joined by Snoop Dogg and Diplo, Takis supported the show as the leading performance sponsor and was highlighted by an epic balloon drop right before Snoop took the stage.
A team of content creators captured the experience with a series of posts while patrons enjoyed carnival rides, Takis samples & swag, and street performers.
In total, we smashed our goal of 100K registrations with 130K - - - and more than 20K live-streamed the event within the first 5 minutes.

SHAQ is a total pro, btw. His people said, “You write the script, Diesel will shoot it himself.” So yeah, the video’s raw. In fact, it’s super raw, but it’s real… and the kids love that kind of thing. Seriously. We had 130K register for his DJ Set Livestream.
TAKIS OWNED THE SHOW. ON-STAGE & OFF.

SO WHAT DID matt DO?
I CAME UP WITH “LET THE HEAT DROP.”
THEN I WROTE THE SPOT, STORYBOARDED IT, THEN TRIED
NOT TO GET IN THE WAY AT THE SHOOT IN LA
There was a lot of writing
and hairpin last-minute turns. This was not a job for weak stomachs.
I also Identified & Pitched “SHAQ’S FUNHOUSE.”
FUNNY STORY: I “PITCHED” SHAQ’S FUNHOUSE
AT LUNCH DURING THE OLV SHOOT
that was 6 weeks before the Super Bowl. ‘Twas nuts.
SERIOUSLY THO,
THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN WITHOUT
SOME SERIOUSLY TALENTED FRIENDS WHO STAYED DIALED IN AND FOCUSED DESPITE
A TON OF BUMPS IN THE ROAD
